A province of Canada, Calgary is the largest city in Alberta. If you are visiting this area, you will want to take in one or more of the many annual events that take place each year. Some of the annual events that you can expect to find when you visit Calgary include the following:GIRAFThis is the Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival and is held every year at the Quickdraw Animation Society in Calgary. On the first weekend of November each year, the animation festival hails the underground animation artists from Canada as well as throughout the world. If you are a fan of underground animation, this is the festival for you. It has been continuing for the past 8 years.Frolicking With SantaOn 4th Street, Calgary hosts a Christmas parade every year on the second Saturday in December. This is an annual event that irish ferry not only includes a small parade, but caroling throughout the street, sleigh rides and a huge craft fair. If you are looking to get into the Christmas spirit, this is one place in Calgary that you will definitely want to be in early December. Each year, the Frolicking with Santa festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people.Winter FestivalCalgary has its share of winter, but they sure know what to do with the season. The Winter Festival draws a large crowd and includes an ice fishing derby, snow pitching tournaments, sleight rides and fun for the entire family at Chestermere Lake. The annual event takes place the second weekend of January.Brazil FestThis is an annual festival in Calgary that celebrates the culture of Brazil. It is usually held the weekend before Lent begins and is somewhat of a Canadian Mardi Gras.
